Balanced Diet

A balanced diet is a meal that contains the right amounts of nutrients, including carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water, to help our body stay healthy.

  • Carbohydrates: Provide energy (e.g., rice, bread, potatoes).
  • Proteins: Help in growth and repair of tissues (e.g., meat, beans, eggs).
  • Fats: Provide energy and support cell growth (e.g., butter, oils, nuts).
  • Vitamins and Minerals: Protect against diseases and keep the body functioning properly (e.g., fruits, vegetables, milk).
  • Water: Essential for digestion and regulating body temperature.
  • Helps the body grow and develop properly.
  • Provides energy for daily activities.
  • Protects from illnesses and helps the immune system.

A balanced diet includes eating a variety of foods from different food groups (grains, vegetables, fruits, proteins, dairy).

Eating the right portion sizes is important for maintaining a healthy weight and body function.

A balanced diet should include three main meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) with healthy snacks in between.

  • A plate that includes rice or bread, a vegetable salad, a piece of meat or beans, fruit, and water or milk.
