One way that they respond is by turning towards or away from things. These turnings are called tropisms. For example, a plant’s response to light is called phototropism. Stems usually bend towards light, and roots usually bend away from light. Plants can also turn in response to touch. This response is called thigmotropism. Depending on conditions, thigmotropism can cause a plant to grow towards or grow away from the surface that it touches.

1

2

QUIZ START

Read the text.

Animals can use different sources of food to survive. Other invertebrates, such as sponges, have soft bodies.

1

2

QUIZ START

Read the text.

Earth’s atmosphere changes as it gets further from the surface of the planet. The layer closest to Earth, called the troposphere, is where Earth’s weather happens. Directly above the troposphere is the stratosphere. Clouds are rare in the stratosphere. This is the area above the clouds where aeroplanes fly. The higher you go in the stratosphere, the higher the temperature gets. This is different from the troposphere, where temperatures get lower the higher you go.

1

2

QUIZ START

Determine the meaning of domain-specific words with pictures 4th Class – Determine The Meaning Of Domain – Specific Words With Pictures by Delta publications key notes: What are Domain-Specific Words?
